Six weeks now... still no camera. Sigh. My retailer called them and they said another 7 business days.
What are they doing? cleaning each pixel one by one???? Argh!!!

Frustrating DS, I'm taking Canon off my wishlist (not that it was ever on in the first place ;-) )

Guys n gals...
Just buy a sensor cleaning brush !!
Easy to use and forget 6weeks ;) Takes less than 6minutes !
Must be someone else on FT who can back me up here telling people that cleaning a sensor really isnt that hard or scary once you've done in a couple of times ;)

I can back you up. I usually use the Giotto's airblow thingy and it works like a charm.
But I can also understand people who are a bit aprehensive to these things and think the camera will be better off with a "professional".

Or at least "THOUGHT" it might be better :(

Well, I'm in the market for a new Camera, and after reading this thread, I will not buy a Canon. I'm reading what expert photographers say here, people I look up to in the world of photography.
So cop that Canon! You should be cleaning that lens for NOTHING you greedy crowd!

Nikon user forums have similar threads ;)
Any digital SLR will get sensor dust.
So no more Nikon vs Canon wars !!
That's like blaming a certain type of car for crashing :P
Dust is dust, it's annoying yes - but it's not as daunting as it's made out.
I just cleaned my sensor again today. Took 3mins, 1st photo of a blue sky without a dot / blemish in sight.
I'll convert you to cleaning your sensors if it's the last thing I do ! :P

wasn't one until you said:

If I had an Olympus I would have told jag to buy that.
Several people earlier have said they wouldn't buy Canon - there's no logical connection between the statements.
Bottom line, DS has his camera lost in "SOME" system, and has already said he will be doing his own cleaning in the future. Now I just send my best wishes that his camera gets returned soon, and that he keep us appraised with updates.

Sniff. My poor camera. :(
I'm definitely happy with my camera, (and probably will be again - once I get it back) but I fear should I ever have a GOOD reason to send it in in the future. What is it with these big Camera manufacturers that makes them think they can just treat us like throw aways?

DS - I must admit I've never seen service this bad, anywhere, for any product.

Olympus is dear to my heart. As for Canon, nope, with that happening to one of our top photographers, no way would I consider buying one.
The problem is, some of these Camera Manufacturers only think of the money they get for the Cameras, not the person who buys it. I still like good old Kodak. They seem to look after the customer.
