I recently installed CS4 on to my laptop (I have loads of memory - far beyond what Adobe recomend), but I found it so memory hungry that I have taken it off and re-installed CS3, has anyone else experienced any similar or other probs with this version?

I installed the trial version to see if the up-grade was worth while...
In my opinion it's not, so I took it off and went back to CS2... which I like very much!

You did the sensible thing megmet, I brought the upgrade before trying it first, I did so on the advice of some photo magazines I read, I will be more cautious in the future

I'm running CS3, no memory problems for me.
I probably won't upgrade until CS5 - just got CS3 12 months ago and only use it for a few specific tasks that it handles better than PSP - the other 99.5% is in PSP.

I havn't used PSP, been using Photoshop since version 5 (CS4 is version 11), but I know people who use it and say it is just as good as Photoshop and a lot cheaper too! Though I am now using Canon's Digital Photo Professional for converting my RAW files, I find this is better than Adobe's Camera Raw Photoshop plug-in.

Might be a silly question. Are you all using Windows? I'm a Mac user and I also have Windows PCs. CS3 & CS4 run very well on the Mac. On Windows, ha ha ha, it's pants! :(

I run CS4 with Tiffen Dfx plugin on Windows 7 and have no problems with just 3gig of ram and 1gig on my video card...
Windows 7 is the future of all operating systems!!! I LOVE it... Vista look and faster and more stable than XP ever was... There is a free download right now to run the Release Candidate. We WILL be getting it when it gets released in OCT. Right now you can run it free til June 2010 before it shuts down if you don't buy a key.

Funny you say that now the Win7 has the same features too. hahahahahahahahahahaha
I have NEVER seen an operating system run so smooth right off the bat.
Oh yeah just a little something... Apple and Microsoft has a little deal going on... Something BIG coming in a year from Google too.
OS X is like 10 years old... it's takes that much time to get it running ok????

if it ain't broke why fix it!

maybe they don't need to keep making new systems to gouge you for money for the new OS of the year.
maybe
They can't get it right so they have to keep making new ones. PFFT!

Mac have been doing it better for longer!
XP has ALWAYS been stable and run like a dream on my PC ....maybe it's down to having a superb system and to not downloading free or pirated stuff from the Internet.
The only exception to that stability was when I downloaded service pack three while I had Norton running..... it was my own fault as the instructions clearly stated to disable Norton.
I have run XP on three computers since it's first release with no problems, come back twelve months down the line and say the same about Windows 7.... I may then give it some thought...but I don't think so!
As Lisa said.... If it isn't broken....don't fix it.

Yes indeed... All I'm saying is that I have played with all the OSs and Win 7 is the best I've ever seen right off the bat.Originally posted by megmet: maybe it's down to having a superb system and to not downloading free or pirated stuff from the Internet.
That's why you NEVER... ummm... do that...
