The 550px is horrible.
The full size has nice PUNCH and sparkle.

No settings chosen on upload.

Eggy?

I can't speak for Eggy, but 550 is best treated as a "thumbnail" - the default appearance which cannot capture the detail of the full size (and isn't meant to) - the picture will clearly indicate when a larger size (and clearer) image is available - that it determined by the person uploading and they also have the option of allowing access to the larger size or not.

When I started with Fotothing the 550 was all you got (irrespective of the size uploaded), whether you were Pro or not, and much detail was often lost as a result. Having the choice was a major improvement.

I just did a screen shot of both the FT 550px home page for this image and the non-full size of the, well full size.
The sky is the most obvious difference, being much darker on the reg 550px image. Other than that - there are a few minor noticeable differances, mainly in white/grey level. But overall, especially for 72dpi, I really wouldn't consider it to be horrible compared to the other smaller image.
It's possible my lcd on my laptop doesn't discriminate that well, I don't know. I think the 550px image looks better - just my preference.

Irregardless - there are obvious differences in the images. I know at one time that anything upladed that was larger than 550 on one side was being run thru a FT edit (as opposed to just resizing) - maybe something has reverted?

Well, I guess it's just as well that it's a bit different. People can choose what they like :)

Thanks for taking the time.
