Pentax makes a good waterpoof p&s. Only problem is that it's totally automatic. No control over shutter or aperture :(

the only experiences with under water cameras was my daughters camera ... terribly noisey any movement under water results in muck being moved about so unclear images.. there is a art to making it work.. some lovely person from here gave her some great tips ..

I don't have any personally but I hear Olympus makes some pretty good ones.

We have one of the new Olympus ones, which my Dad took to the Maldives a few months ago, and found out that it wasn't nearly as water proof as they claim it was. Having leaked water in the camera promptly died, and Olympus have refused to replace it as they claim it was not a failure of the camera (!), despite the camera being used within the advertised tolerances. Verdict... leave Olympus well alone.

Why not get a waterproof bag housing?

To be fair to Olympus they have since offered to refund the cost of the repair... but it doesn't change the fact that the waterproofing failed at around 2 to 4 feet in depth in a very short length of time. As Pondy said, I would go with the water proof housing option now.
