When I first joined this great site it had a spell check and then got updates without spell check. Is it possible to have this reinatalled for those of us who spelling is not one of our best skills. Maybe I am the only one useless at spelling

I don't recall this site ever having spell check, I know over the years a few people have asked for it but as far as I'm aware it's never actually had it.

It was probably a browser plugin that you had. Which browser do you use? Perhaps someone can suggest one.

I'm too lazy to go to google and search - know of any for IE? I really like it in FF but FF doesn't like me...:-))

I used to use iespell to spellcheck forms and text inputs in internet explorer. works well but haven't checked it with ie7 / vista.

We've never had a spellcheck function built in to FT and never will - too many languages and volcabularies to deal with. For me, spell checking is a browser function.

Assuming I can find, I will report back - thanks!

cnet.com still has it but I don't know if it is Vista compatible. However, Google toolbar has spell check built in - I just used it with some intentional mistakes right here on Vista & IE7 and it works like a dream. You can even add words to a dictionary so it doesn't constantly think eggy is spelled wrong..:-))

try adding (or updating) firefox. that's what i use and it's definitely the best thing that's happened to my spelling lol

also, i'm not sure it's an add-on... i think it just comes with the browser now.

I used to use firefox and stopped so guess that must be what the change was. Thanks for all the comments though. I had trouble with firefox and not overly great on these putors so will just have to check my spelling and typing more carefully

An easy way of spell checking is to use word to write, spell check there and then cut and paste into here. :-)

if you use IE7 - this add-in does several things but one is a spell checker:

Spell check is built right into Firefox. You don't need to do anything to it. It will usually spell check anything you type into a text box. If you type a word the Firefox dictionary doesn't recognize it'll underline it in red. When you right-click the word, the contextual menu will have spelling suggestions at the top.

I'm sure IE uses a good chunk of bloat memory too. It just hides much of its usage in the bowels of the Windows system. I remember when they had an IE for Mac and it was just as memory hungry as Mozilla/Firefox ever was.

Of course, this is getting away from the topic of "Spell Checking".

It still stands, right from install, Firefox has Spell Check built in and IE does not. Fotothing has never come with a spell check and is therefore dependent on your browser to support it or not.
