Good grief! Threatened of sued because of mentioning another web site???? How many of us here have not put links to our own websites on Fotothing. I guess we all should be sued then.

They would make more moneys if they just lowered the price for a "pro" membership.
or create multiple levels of pro. Give people a choice.
low level pro (at 1/3 the normal price) 10 uploads a day
mid level pro (at 2/3 the normal price) 30 uploads a day, etc. etc.
the thing i do not like with Google ads are that they advertise the "Competition"
is that really a wise thing to do?????

it appears to me that I am not a "pro" so what i say means nothing.

Coporate people are all the same. You can suggest and suggest but maybe 5 years down the line if you are lucky, you will find they use the idea giving no credit to no one.

So they can't pretend they haven't been reading what's written in the forums then can they?

Their behavior is a disgrace!

...and proves my point that they don't want any helpful suggestions so we'd better shut our faces and just get on clicking the ads and posting our shitty little pictures for them

Thank you :D
All I am saying is i could afford a partial "PRO Membership"
but at this time there is no way i could afford a full membership.
I remember in the old days "you get what you pay for".
That is all the "PRO" members are asking for right now.
Well i am sure they could come up with a system everyone would agree with.
yes let the members help decide. After all they may be RENEWING their accts in the future and will want it fair for them also.
They could limit albums, uploads, and w/e else they need to do but I know for a FACT if they would almost eliminate the ads and have different price ranges and services they would make more money by having more people becoming "PRO"(full member) "Hobbyist"(midgrade) and "Weekend Clicker"(Low end PRO) and
The FREEBIES will like the site more cause there are less ads, which in turn more people will want to become "PRO" members.

Fotothing just needs to remember: It is the visitors AND members that keep this site up. Without them Fotothing will NOT exist!!!

Maybe that's why you no longer have your business !!!!

The company I work for listen to our customers to find out what they want, that's how we make money.
They give us an idea of what they wish to buy & we work at providing it :-)

Well, if you've read the link to the reaction by these people to Dom's little bit of off the cuff advice, you'll see that they certainly DON'T want any advice from us little insignificant people.

...and I don't have a business any more 'cause I was sick of working 7 days a week. Is that alright by you? Would you like me to go more in-depth as to why I shut down or perhaps you'd like me to post my business plan....

I said that in humour, sorry if it didn't come across that way.
Like Bison said, it's hard to know how things are meant when you can't see the face of the person

Yes, I read it on Thursday & think it's outrageous & have been posting links & making phone calls about it.

This was posted after I put my comment up so I don't really see how it was relevant & in all fairness it doesn't say anywhere that "they certainly DON'T want any advice", unless you have heard different ?

You know better than anyone how much I have defended this site in the past.
Christ, I've even had warnings off them for it !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am in NO way trying to defend them for this, I was the first person on here to post an anti ad photo.
I've had 3 pictures deleted by them for speaking out against it (well actually one picture deleted three times)

I still think if people have got ideas they should tell them.
If Fotothing listen, fine, if they don't, so be it......... At least they tried, what harm can it do ?

That's ok, I've been unwell for almost 2 weeks now and I'm starting to turn evil with it. If I let myself I'd flame nearly everyone here, shout at my friends and family and go on a local killing spree

I've managed to turn off Google ads by following the process described above.
The annoying thing is that every time I access FT and go onto the site automatically without signing in they're back! I have to sign out and sign in again to lose them - anyone else have a similar experience?

Yep, same thing for me, I said it somewhere else, site bugs I think.

It's just stupid, the whole thing, FT shouldn't have done it in the first place & we shouldn't have to disable it every time we use the site.

Edit
I lied, it was in this forum "PRO member & ads"

me.
moreover, the "no ad" option has disappeared from my settings page.
Moreover, I don't like the style of this management.
I'm moving to Fotonomy. Cool, smart and clean.

A while back BluToy (previously here under another name) made the statement in this forum:
what was so bad about 2-3 ads on FT pages.
I post here the original comment from him and my private message to him, followed by the nasty message I received in return tonite:)
As he said, all should be said in the forum, so here its is in the order it occurred:

1. Originally posted by BluToy:
what is it that is such a bother as an ad on the page. im a freebe and the only ad i see is a little bity ad at the top of the page.some of these post sounds as if life is lost and theres no hope. no go outside and mow the lawn... it needs it.

2. My reply in private message:

Sorry BluToy, I have not seen you support this site in the past.
If you like many of us had paid yearly fees, you might be upset as well.
Many of us here have paid each year for the last 3 years. That helped FT to give non-paying members like you access to this site.
I DO NOT BEGRUDGE YOU THAT ACCESS, AND GLADLY CONTINUE TO FINANCIALLY SUPPORT FT TO KEEP THE SITE ACCESSIBLE TO NON-PAYING MEMBERS.
But I do not think it is too much to demand that FT stick to the agreement in return for our money, and that was
NO ADS ON PRO MEMBER PAGES.
And I have to correct you also on your statement..one or two little ads
the minimum I as a Pro have on my pages is 6-7 ads, some pages 11
by last count in total 183 ads on all pages to which I have access.

3. His very thoughtful message to me tonite:

Like you say. This needs to be said in the forums. Please dont send me any more personal messages . This site is for sharring photos not your thoughts. I believe you think to much of yourself. I know your kind. You smell blood and then you pounce. You and a few others think by putting others down. It builds you up. Just leave me alone please and dont write back. Keep away from me. Read again your message to me. Its all over me commenting on ads. Live and let live and leave me alone.

I agree, all should be said in the forum...so I followed his advice!!!!!!!
