They came, they saw, they legged it !!!

They bravely ran away, they advanced quickly in the opposite direction.

10 minutes online & gone.
You've gotta love 'em for that :-)))))))))

Thanks for your feedback. We are implementing a profile option to allow existing PRO MEMBERS to switch the Google ads off. This should be in place by the weekend.

So future Pro Members are out of luck????

1. An option to switch it off? An *option*? So people have to manually switch off ads they've paid not to see in the first place?
2. By "existing members", I take it all new Pro members will still see ads?

I'm sure you've realised that most people ignore Google ads on a site like Fotothing anyway. They tend to just click around from one photo to another. Why not be creative and look at alternative revenue streams instead? Keep everyone happy and maybe offer additional services at the same time?

You took the words right out of my mouth Dom - well said!

I cannot add anything to this.
Other than that the wording of this FT message seems to be very carefully crafted.

This all seems so weird to me, from previous posts it seems like FT have tried out the adds in the first place on existing Pro members to see if there would be any reaction..because yes ..we do ignore the ads ..whether pro or non pro. It is as if they would be added to all future PRO memberships..with the other options of unlimited messages/ comments on pictures / uploads remaining the same.
The problem I see developing now is petty arguments between FT members over this issue, I am not a Pro, but I do see very clearly that something is very wrong here (as previously stated).
And I am 100% sure that FT know this too, and I am also sure that the whole issue is about to become even more confusing (for new Pro members), it seems that there will soon be many divides on this site ..original life pro members(moderators etc) Pro members (pre June 2007) , new Pro members (June 2007 - onwards), and the likes of me ...just plain old members. I cant quiet put my finger on it ..but I am sure all will be revealed soon ?
The people who pay to put adds here via Google puzzle me aswell .. do they look here ? if they do then if I where them I would think ..bloody hell ! what a shambles (why are our adds where they should not be !, has someone acted illegally on our behalf ?)
This mess is no fault of Pro members or Non members.. but we are all part of it whether we like it or not.. we all form the FT community... lets stop questioning eachother..arguing with eachother ..our argument is not with eachother as we do not have the answer ..do we ?

Two brief sentences out of the pages and pages of protests and complaints.

And no apology for breach of contract, or explanation about how they define "existing" as Dom has pointed out.

It's still a piss poor attitude to customer service and does little or nothing to encourage renewals or new Pro members.

People will always appreciate openness and honesty in communication regarding problems. This is especially important when people have paid a subscription and made a financial commitment based upon the understandings given at the time they did so. Even chopping and changing things for non-Pros without notice is counter-productive if once wishes to keep them to see the ads in the first place.

And that’s it is it?
Nothing at all about the other issues?

It looks as if I were now foolish enough to become a Pro member (as I'd intended to do all along), that I would now be discriminated against (illegal in the UK) on grounds of length of Pro membership.
I would in fact receive an inferior form of membership from those who may not have been a member of this site for as long as I have.
You would expect me to tolerate adverts that others would not be seeing….I don’t think so!!!!!

Unless or until you engage your brain and start to consider the members of this site and start informing including and discussing planned changes…..my money stays deep in my pocket!

In my opinion Fotothing sucks! And that’s the second time in less than a week that you have invoked from me language I am not accustomed to using.

Megmet.

I 100% agree with you.
I do not recall many arguments between FT members over this issue, but if I was guilty of that, then it was totally unintentional.
I have at all times assumed that all posts were placed out of a genuine desire to help improve FT, in whatever way each individual saw fit.
As I have stated many times in the forums, especially over the last week, Fotothing does have the greatest community bar none. No other photo site comes even close to that.
Time to go back to PHOTOS!!!!!:):):)

I think it was hinted that there were more changes afoot:

non-pro

no more than 5 images/day
no more than 2MB/image

I think they are trying to make the "PRO carrot" to be image oriented (which makes more sense - this being an IMAGE site), and that ads will become the standard for all.

For this "cloudy view" into the future, please deposit your $0.02 :)
