Thinking seriously about purchasing one soon. If you know anything about this camera Please feel free to comment. The A-100 is a Revised Minolta Digital Camera.. I own 3 Minolta Film cameras they are very good cameras. I am about to make a Digital switch. Sony Seems to have kept alot of Minolta's Technology. But I am weighing all the pros and cons.
Thanks Glenn

Glenn - if I were buying a point and shoot, I'd probably get the update to the Canon S3-IS (I think it's going to be S5). For all-around shooting it has great specs and I have seen awesome shots here made by it and the previous model.

They review quite well in their homeland, and that's a tough market. If you like your old Minoltas, and you have some lenses, then the body might be fun. Remember there's the 1.5 times lens factor: although your telephotos will become very telephoto, your wide angles will become normal. In-body anti-vibration so all your lenses will benefit, and a sensor reportedly remarkably to that in the Nikon D200 (whose sensor also comes from Sony).

I am currently also looking to upgrade to a entry level DSLR
Currently I am investigating and trying to decide between the following cameras:
Canon Rebel XTi
Nikon D40x (not the D40) or the Nikon D80
Sony Alpha 100
Olympus E510 (not the 500)
I truly would appreciate comments.
The Olympus 510 appears to have just about anything I may want, however, I am not to certain about their quality and/or service.
The Sony seems wonderful, however, I am not a fan of their corporate policies, especially since the embedded spyware fiasco and their initial response.
Both the Canon and the Nikon strike my fancy.
However, I have become a lover of image stabilization which neither of these camera's have, unless I immediately invest in some additional expensive lenses.

Image stabilization is one of the most important features I look for in a camera. I do own some really old kit like Sony fd90 fd91 fd97.. I was thinking along the lines of a Sony h-5 for overall functions and features.
When picking a camera Image stablization and zoom are ideal! Also you want a camera that you can take about easily without having to take a large bag with you.
Old Sony fd-91 I use has a very effective image-stabilization system makes the 14x zoom actually usable for handheld shots at the maximum telephoto setting, which is pretty remarkable when you consider it's the equivalent of a 518mm lens on a 35mm film camera.
To summarise.
Zoom - Image stability - compactness - Affordable - pocketsize
These are the main thing I think you would be looking for in a camera....
Hope my comment helps ...
